General Terms

  1. The minimum rental period is 4 months, (8 months for 1/10, 1/8, 1/4 basses). NO REFUNDS OF PRE-PAID RENT WILL BE GIVEN FOR EARLY RETURNS. An annual payment plan saves you two months rent, but you are locked in once paid. You must notify us of your intent to return PRIOR to your next annual billing cycle. Please consider this fact when choosing a rental plan; choose a monthly payment plan if you are unsure. You may change from monthly to annual at any time, or you can convert your annual to monthly after the term ends. The credit/debit card will be automatically charged in the same manner as was originally established.

  2. Automatic credit card payments will be charged on or about the same day of the month. A $20 fee will be added for any payment that is more then 21 days past due.

  3. ASNE reserves the right to terminate this agreement and take possession of the instrument as is/where is if the account balance is 30 days or more overdue.

  4. The renter agrees to pay all certified mail, legal, and/or collections fees should such action be necessary for ASNE to collect unpaid balances. Failure to respond to a certified letter within 10 days will result in legal action for theft of rental property and/or reporting to the credit bureaus.

  5. Rental rates are subject to change at the end of any rental period, monthly or annually. In the case of a rate change, the customer's next regularly scheduled invoice will reflect the new rate. Payment of the invoice signifies acceptance of the new rate. Automatic payments will be charged as scheduled unless the customer notifies ASNE of his/her intent to discontinue the rental and return the instrument.

  6. Insurance is required for all rentals. Please read complete information below.

  7. Exchanges/Returns must be pre-arranged with ASNE. Please read complete information below.

Insurance

Insurance shall cover normal wear and tear including replacement strings, bow hair, rosin, and minor repairs as deemed necessary by ASNE. ASNE will provide service and/or install replacement strings on regularly scheduled maintenance visits. Strings may be mailed in order to shorten wait times at the discretion of ASNE. Insurance does not cover missing components or damage due to accidents, neglect, travel or weather. In such cases the renter will be liable for the replacement cost of the component or the minimum deductible for the instrument. The following minimum deductibles apply: Standard Violin/Viola $100, Tuscan Violin/Viola $200, Standard Cello $200, Tuscan Cello $300, Standard Bass $300, Tuscan Bass $400. INSURANCE COVERAGE IS NOT IN EFFECT ON ACCOUNTS WITH OVERDUE BALANCES.

Exchanges/Returns

The renter is free to exchange his/her instrument at any time for a different size, quality, or type of instrument. Any pre-paid rent will be applied to the rental of the new instrument. ALL RETURNS MUST BE PRE-ARRANGED . RENTER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR RENTAL/REPLACEMENT FEES FOR ANY INSTRUMENT LEFT AT SCHOOL WITHOUT PRIOR NOTIFICATION .

Equity/Purchase Plan

100% of rental fees (excluding tax insurance) paid during a continuous rental period build as equity towards the purchase of the instrument being rented. A portion of this equity can be transferred to a larger instrument of the same type, but cannot be used for a different type of instrument, bows, or accessories. Equity has no cash value and cannot be redeemed or transferred. All equity is forfeited 30 days after an instrument is returned.

Basic Instrument Care

  1. Loosen your bow every time you put it away.

  2. Never leave your instrument in a hot or cold car; try to mitigate the amount of time your instrument is exposed to extreme heat and cold.

  3. Rosin your bow as needed. Some bows are brand new and will need quite a bit of rosin to get started. Always wipe the rosin dust off your instrument with a soft cloth after playing. If your rosin is shiny new, scratch it with sandpaper to get it started.

  4. Humidity is your friend, dryness is the enemy. Pegs that slip and strings that sit too low on the fingerboard are signs that your instrument is too dry. Store your instrument away from heat sources and/or in a humidified room in the winter if needed. Solid wood instruments including Tuscan violins, violas, cellos, and basses must be kept at 40% humidity. DO NOT LEAVE THESE INSTRUMENTS AT YOUR SCHOOL OR NEAR A HEAT SOURCE! THEY WILL CRACK!

  5. Report any problems or damage as soon as possible to avoid having the problem worsen.
