Made in Czechoslovakia between WWI and WWII, this violin is a copy of a 1595 Gasparo da Salo violin. Gasparo was a contemporary of Monteverdi and his new “Brescian” style instruments were the most popular throughout Europe.  He was an early maker who helped standardize the current modern violin.  This violin copy has the same double purfling and a delicate purling pattern on the back as the original. The scroll has a detailed open floral pattern. It has a very bright and open sound and rings very easily.
